What remains in the pipeline is now trickling out to retailers in five cuts, likely the last chance to acquire the fabric in its original form.
The UHR weave is denser than Iron Heart's standard offerings. Where most of the brand's denim is sanforised and one-washed, this cloth is sold raw and shrink-to-fit, starting at 21oz per square yard and tightening to approximately 23oz after an initial soak. The break-in is unforgiving. The hand is stiff, the drape nonexistent until several weeks of wear begin to soften the weave. It has been described, accurately, as cardboard. For those who value high-contrast fading and a fabric that holds its structure under load, it has few peers.
The IH-634S-UHR is the straight cut, Iron Heart's oldest and most widely adopted silhouette. Mid-rise, full thigh, straight from knee to hem. It is the most versatile of the five and the shape that best accommodates the weight and stiffness of UHR denim during break-in. Currently listed at Brooklyn Clothing for $377, it runs from size 31 to 38.
The IH-888S-UHR offers a medium-to-high rise with a relaxed top block and a taper from the knee down. This is the cut for those who need room in the thigh but prefer a contemporary leg opening. Corlection has it at $438, sized 30 through 38.
The IH-666S-UHR is Iron Heart's slim-straight fit—slimmer through the thigh than the 634, with a straight leg that reads clean without venturing into skinny territory. Burgundschild is listing it at $290.71, the lowest entry point for UHR at present, in sizes 29 to 38.
The IH-555S-UHR is the super-slim cut. This is as narrow as Iron Heart goes, and in 23oz post-soak denim, it is a committed proposition. The fit is close through the entire leg. The IH-777S-UHR splits the difference: slim through the top block with a pronounced taper. It is Iron Heart's most popular contemporary cut, and in UHR it offers the closest approximation of a modern tapered jean in a fabric that otherwise belongs to an earlier era of denim construction. Pricing varies by retailer, likely reflecting when stock was acquired. All five use the same UHR fabric. The choice is one of fit preference, not material. Those who have worn UHR before know its behavior. Those who have not should understand that this is not a forgiving cloth, and its appeal lies precisely in that fact.
